Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month is an initiative of Cure SMA. This month long event seeks to increase awareness of the disease, raise funds to look for a cure and provide valuable lifestyle suggestions for those living with the disease. Activities include
Ideas for other special Awareness Month efforts could include:
A group candle lighting for those whom have succumb to the disease on the 2nd Saturday of August;
Outreach to local media or celebrities;
Social media community album;
Sharing your story with the FDA.
Additional tools are available on the Cure SMA site including downloadable awareness & advocacy kit, kits for medical professionals and caregivers and a media kit.
